Media & Film Education
DaQot has contributed to several media and film education projects with the aim of increasing knowledge about the essentials, advantages and disadvantages of media, developing skills and explaining career opportunities in these fields. DaQot worked on the following projects, among others:
The Mysterious Disappearance of DJ-Gone is an educational digital game for secondary schools developed by Mira Media. The game is played in groups within the class. The student acts as journalists in the game. They come across all kinds of information, interpret it and write an article. In the plenary information exchange, they realize that even though they all had access to the same information that was available in the game, each group chose to look at another information and interpret it differently. The students learn to critically obtain media information.
Film festival’s educational material, created for Amnesty Film Festival, the Netherland Film Festival and International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam (IDFA).
The Day of the Dutch Film and The Day of the Media organized by the Netherlands Institute for Film Education (NIF) and Mira Media for secondary school students, where they learn more about the Dutch film and media industry, and are introduced to the many facets of this versatile profession. The days include various workshops at public broadcasters and theatres, where students work with professional studio cameras and microphones, write scripts, present a TV or radio program, watch films and engage in conversation with professionals in the field and well-known film actors.
Klassefilm and MovieZone , national film programs of EYE Filmmuseum, the national film institute (formerly developed under the Netherlands Institute for Film Education), where young people learn to use visual language. They are given the opportunity, the space and the tools to (further) delve into visual culture in the broadest sense of the word. From cinema to #instastory, from vlog to video clip and from YouTube to arthouse.
